Lidl GB has confirmed that its first ever store in Tilbury will open on Thursday 17th September. The local community is invited to join the grand opening celebrations from 8:00am. There’ll be a ribbon cutting ceremony with students from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School to officially mark Lidl as the newest member of the community.

An online petition has been launched by a borough resident to try and persuade Thurrock Council to bring back weekly bin collections. Currently the council operates a rotational fortnightly service for general waste (green/black), recycling (blue) and garden waste (brown) collections - with residents having to pay extra for the brown bin collections.

Police investigating an incident in a Grays pub in May have made a belated appeal for information after a woman suffered life-changing injuries. It happened on Saturday, 23 May in the car park of the Bull pub on Dock Road. A grey Ford Ranger pick up was involved in a collision with a 29-year-old woman in the car park in Dock Road before the vehicle left the scene.

A Reform candidate in an upcoming Thurrock by-election has come under fire over racist, misogynistic and offensive social media posts. Jason Mitchell, standing in the Grays Riverside by-election, has been slammed online and by the Thurrock Labour group after the historic Facebook posts – seen by the Local Democracy Service – emerged.

HE Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) has been spared from a fresh round of Government spending cuts after ministers confirmed the controversial and much-delayed £11 billion road scheme remains on track - even the source of an £8 billion cost shortfall remains unknown.

Despite assurances that things have improved and officers have been able to complete accounting reviews for the past year – Thurrock Council's accounts – going back to 2021 – have still not been signed off by external auditors.
